COMPAQ has added three personal computers to its Presario series for home and small office users.

The Presario 5716 and 5726 mini towers feature Intel Pentium III chips running at 450MHz and 500MHz respectively.

The 5716 has a 100MB Iomega Zip built-in drive, 6X DVD-ROM drive and Aureal A3D Interactive 360-degrees positional sound.

Extending the features of the 5700 range, the 5726 packs a 15GB Ultra DMA hard drive, 6X DVD-ROM drive and a Logitech QuickCam digital video camera.

Three open slots and three open bays offer much space for expansion.

The 5716 is priced from $2999 and the 5726 from $3999.

Meanwhile, Compaq is offering a lower-end micro tower PC, the Presario 5346, for a recommended retail price of $1999.

The unit includes an Intel Celeron chip running at 400MHz, 64MB SyncDRAM and the same Aureal A3D sound system featured in its more powerful cousins.

All new Presario models come with Microsoft Word 97 and Encyclopedia Britannica 1999 Standard Edition.

Presario smoothes the path to cyberspace with a Compaq Easy Access Internet Keyboard, and one-touch access buttons to the Internet, search engines and e-mail. A 56K modem comes as standard.
